Yesterday was an amazing Sunday! Jon and I had the chance to drive up to Farmington with two of his old companions, Gonzo and Jambone, to go to President Summerhays' homecoming, Jon's old mission president.
We picked up Jambone at about ten in the morning and headed up to N. Salt Lake to pick up Gonzo. We laughed all the way up, with our boys in the back it is impossible not to laugh.
After trying and trying and trying to figure out where the Summerhays' house, we joined many missionaries and family members to celebrate all of their great service in the Florida, Tallahassee mission. I had so much fun meeting all of these great boys, whom I've heard so many stories about.
Just before their two O'clock church we all shipped over to the church house and filled the chapel, cultural hall, and the stage with people. It reminded Jon and I of our Stake Conferences in Casper! After everyone was able to find a seat, sacrament meeting started. All the deacons were needed to pass the bread and water and they all needed to refill their water trays and bless more water.
After the Sacrament was passed there was only fifteen minutes left until the meeting was supposed to be over. We were able to listen to amazing talks from two youth speakers as well as the President and his wife; Jon said it was like being back in the mission listening to them speak. Between speakers all the old missionaries from the Florida mission were asked to stand and sing, there were so many there that they couldn't go up to the pulpit, but just stood at their seats. "Called to Serve" filled the building with the spirit and it was just amazing to see all these people who had served our lord in just one area!
After long good-byes, the boys and I headed back home. We dropped Gonzo off to his car at Lowes so he could drive down to his parent's house in Orem and we brought Jambone to my parents house for dinner.
It was really fun being with family friends all day yesterday, and really great to watch Jon interacting with his buddies! I can't wait for the next reunion; according to Sister Summerhay's, "It will be really soon!"
